RTR projects triumphs in Most: GT2 shines, newcomer excels, and an eventful endurance

The KTM X-Bow GT2 once again proved its speed, with Reinhard Kofler leaving all GT class competitors behind in the Most sprint race and narrowly missing out on an overall victory. Meanwhile, newcomer Ondřej Rokos enjoyed an impressive debut, capping off a dramatic and successful weekend for RTR Projects.

In Saturday’s sprint, Reinhard Kofler demonstrated the potential of the KTM X-Bow GT2, dominating both GT qualifying sessions and securing victory in the GTX class and overall GT standings. However, the race was far from straightforward.

A collision at the start involving Kofler, Dennis Waszko, and Antal Zsig sent the Austrian driver into the gravel. The red flag allowed him to restart from pole, but his car sustained aerodynamic damage that impacted cornering. Despite this, Kofler persevered and claimed a commanding win.

“The team did an amazing job repairing the car during the red flag. Driving with damaged aerodynamics wasn’t easy, but that’s motorsport,” said Kofler.

Kofler also held off a Ligier LMP3 driven by Miro Konopka for much of the race, only losing the lead in the final stages. “Without the damage, I think we could have kept him behind,” Kofler added.

The GT2 car led the first half of the endurance race with Kofler at the helm. After handing the car over to Tomáš Miniberger, a series of challenges arose, including a safety car restart and a collision with Adam Konopka.

“After the restart, I tried to pass slower cars, but I got hit, which made the car unstable. When I attempted an overtake, the car spun, and Adam Konopka hit me. He couldn’t avoid it,” explained Miniberger. The damage ended RTR Projects’ hopes of competing in Sunday’s sprint.

“It all started shortly after the race restart, when I was trying to overtake slower cars. I got hit in turn 13 and from then on the car behaved strangely. When I tried to overtake in a place where overtaking is common, my car spun and I got hit by Adam Konopka. But he couldn’t do anything about it at that moment,” Miniberger recalls the incident that ultimately prevented the team from even starting the second sprint on Sunday.

A stellar debut for Ondřej Rokos

RTR Projects still celebrated a podium in the endurance race, with Petr Lisa and rookie Ondřej Rokos finishing third in the GTX class. Rokos, in his first-ever car race, was thrilled with the result.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling. We focused on finishing the race and avoiding damage, so third place is a miracle for me,” said Rokos, praising Lisa for his mentorship.

Lisa was equally impressed with his co-driver’s progress:
“Ondra did an amazing job. He improved massively over the weekend and delivered a strong performance under challenging conditions.”

The pair shared the podium with other KTM X-Bow GTX teams, including winners Viktor Mráz and Maťo Homola (Carin Racing) and runners-up Petr Koukola and Petr Majer (ORLEN Janík Motorsport).

The ESET Cup resumes on August 24-25 at Slovakia Ring, where RTR Projects will return with renewed determination. Their focus remains on refining the KTM X-Bow GT2 for the Fanatec GT2 European Series and continuing to nurture talent like Rokos.

“Kudos to Ondřej for handling his first race so well, especially in such a high-pressure environment,” concluded team director Tomáš Fanta. “He showed resilience and growth, and we’re proud of his performance.”
