New line-up and a potential battle with GT3 cars as RTR projects head to Slovakiaring

“Pavel Sovička has other commitments this weekend and won’t be able to take part. He will be replaced by Tomáš, who will compete in both sprint races. In the endurance race, he will be joined as usual by Petr Lisa,” explained team manager Tomáš Fanta as he introduced the line-up for the Slovakian weekend.

RTR Projects head into the penultimate round of the season well-prepared. Last week, Tomáš Miniberger drove the KTM X-Bow GTX at Slovakiaring during the Hankook Carbonia Cup races. This gave the team valuable data they can utilise throughout the weekend.

While this will be the first endurance race this season with Petr Lisa and Tomáš Miniberger sharing the car, the two are no strangers to racing together. In fact, they’ve teamed up several times in the past. A standout memory is from 2019, when they were part of the GT4 class-winning crew at the 24 Hours of Barcelona.

“I’ve raced with Tomáš several times before, so we’re used to working together. I’m looking forward to it,” said Lisa.

For the RTR Projects KTM X-Bow GTX, Slovakiaring holds special significance. It was here, two years ago, that the car made its competitive debut. The team enjoyed a particularly strong showing in the endurance race, with Tomáš Miniberger and Sergej Pavlovec finishing fourth overall and even outpacing some GT3-class cars. Petr Lisa believes they could repeat that success this weekend.

“We won’t be challenging the newest GT3 cars or those fighting for the top spots. They have superior aerodynamics and suspension. However, we could compete with older GT3 models, and I also think we can get close to the one-make Lamborghini series cars,” he predicted.

Saturday’s schedule includes the opening sprint race at 13:45, followed by the endurance race at 17:35. Unlike the usual ESET Cup endurance format, this race will run for an extended 85 minutes rather than the standard hour. The second sprint race is set to take place on Sunday at 13:55.
