“The improvement is particularly evident with Pavel Sovička, who has been working hard on his skills and is eager to continue improving. Similarly, Petr Lisa is now competing at a level that, a few years ago, was the realm of professional drivers. We handled the mixed conditions in the races exceptionally well—whether it was starting on a wet track that dried out or the opposite, when rain set in mid-race. We finished every race and even held our own against cars in more powerful categories,” Fanta added.
In the endurance race, Lisa and Sovička secured second place in the GTX class as a team, while in the sprints, Sovička claimed the silver spots on his own. Despite competing at the Most Autodrom for the first time in the KTM X-Bow GTX, the driver, who joined RTR Projects only this year, adapted swiftly.
“The collaboration with the team worked perfectly. Everyone was incredibly well-prepared, and since we started testing on Thursday, we had time to analyse lap times, data, and everything else. This allowed us to make quick progress over the weekend,” Sovička said, praising the team’s approach.
Sovička was also pleased with his personal performance. “I set a new personal best on this track. I’ve never been faster here with any other car—or even on a motorbike. I wanted to go even quicker, but the weather didn’t cooperate,” he admitted.
The weather indeed proved challenging for Sovička on two occasions. In the endurance race, like everyone else, he finished on slick tyres, but rain intensified towards the end. On Sunday, during the sprint, the opposite occurred—the track gradually dried out while the race continued on wet tyres.
“Situations like that are always stressful. In endurance racing, it was manageable and not too dramatic, though grip was certainly diminishing. The second sprint was a new experience for me. We handled it well, though. The car was predictable, and I was able to maintain a relatively decent pace,” he explained.
Unfortunate collision
It was a close call, but a potential endurance race victory slipped away. Petr Lisa had secured pole position in the GTX class for Saturday’s one-hour race and got off to a promising start. However, luck wasn’t on their side.
“At the start, I managed to overtake two Lamborghinis, moving up to an overall fifth place. Unfortunately, I then got hit and spun off. After that, it was all about damage control, trying to recover as much as possible. I was gutted that we couldn’t fight for the win,” Lisa lamented.
Despite the setback, Lisa was impressed with Sovička’s performance: “He was outstanding, especially in qualifying, where he clocked an incredibly fast lap. In the races, he gave it his all, particularly in the second sprint. Towards the end, he overtook both Petr Brecka in a Porsche and Petr Kačírek in an Audi GT3. He’s improving with every race,” Lisa remarked, applauding his teammate.
With two rounds remaining in the ESET Cup, RTR Projects are in an excellent position. Lisa and Sovička remain atop the endurance standings with a two-point lead. In the GTX sprint standings, Sovička capitalised on the absence of rivals, moving up to second place overall, just four points behind leader Alexander Ober from Austria.
